What is a multi-language QR menu, and who does it in Malta?
A multi-language menu is a single digital menu, reached from one QR code, that shows each guest your dishes in their own language. What makes it work for Malta specifically is the do-not-translate list. Ftira, pastizzi, imqarrun, braġjoli, ġbejniet, bigilla, lampuki and Kinnie keep their Maltese names in every language, with the explanation translated underneath. A guest reading in German learns what braġjoli is without the menu pretending it is called something else — and when they order, they say the word your kitchen recognises.

Pick any of the 14 languages
Flag a dish do-not-translate and its name is passed through untouched in every language. Without that flag, machine translators turn Imqarrun il-Forn into “baked macaroni” and your menu loses the thing that made it worth reading.
Switch to Italian and look at Imqarrun il-Forn — that line was written by hand. A corrected string is locked, so re-translating the menu after a price change never overwrites your wording.
The guest's phone language is detected on open, so a German family and a Japanese couple scan the same sticker and each see their own menu. Change a price at 11am and both are updated before lunch — no reprinting, no laminating, no second QR.

Every source string is fingerprinted. Edit one dish description and only that string is re-translated — the rest of the menu is left alone.

If I change a price, do I have to re-translate everything?
No. Prices are numbers and are shared across every language, so a price change is instant everywhere. For text, LoyalMT hashes the source string and only marks the text that actually changed as stale, so you re-translate one dish rather than the whole menu.
Do I need a card machine or a merchant account?
Not for Multi-Menu. Menu-only mode is purely a digital menu behind a QR code, with no ordering and no payments. If you later want guests to order and pay from the table, you can switch on LoyalMT QR Ordering on the same menu.

What do I have to change to start taking orders?

Do I have to rebuild the menu or reprint the QR codes to add ordering?
No. Ordering runs on the same menu record, so every item, photo, price, modifier group, allergen tag and hand-corrected translation carries straight over. A standalone QR code keeps resolving to the same menu. The only reason to print new codes is if you want per-table codes so the kitchen knows which table ordered.
Can I take orders in one language and read them in another?
Yes. Guests order in whichever of the fourteen languages they are reading, and the kitchen ticket comes through in your own working language using your original item names. A German guest tapping through a German menu produces a ticket your kitchen recognises, and dishes flagged do-not-translate appear under the same name on both sides.
Can I run some tables as menu-only and others as ordering?
Yes. Ordering is controlled per order point, so you can leave the table tents in the dining room as read-only menus while sunbeds, the pool bar or a takeaway counter take live orders. It is a common way to trial ordering on part of the venue before rolling it out everywhere.
Can I show allergens and dietary information?
Yes. Each item can carry vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, nuts, dairy, shellfish and spicy tags, and guests can use filter chips to hide anything they cannot eat. You can also publish calories, protein, carbohydrate and fat per item.
Do I need one QR code per table?
No. Multi-Menu can run from a single standalone QR code that you put on the door, the counter or a table tent. Per-table codes are only needed when you add ordering, because that is what tells the kitchen where to send the food.
